Language & Memory
How do words keep our memories alive? When my grandmother told me stories in Dari, every word carried the scent of home: fresh bread, an old rug, and family laughter.
Later at school I learned new terms, yet the words of childhood still brought me back. Language, for me, is a bridge between past and present, between Kabul and every city that comes alive in my fiction.
To write is to preserve; it is to let someone, years later, read the same sentence and say, "I have felt this too."
